Affiliate Links
In some of my articles, you will find “affiliate links” or “advertising links”.
These links are always marked with an asterisk (*) and written in bold font.
Wikipedia explains the term “affiliate marketing” as follows:
Affiliate systems are based on the principle of referral commissions. Referrals are made in the virtual world of the World Wide Web via a link. Such an affiliate link contains a special code that uniquely identifies the affiliate to the merchant. Put simply, this means that the link with the partner ID allows the merchant to recognize who sent the customer. The commission is paid for clicks on the advertising material (“click”), the transmission of qualified customer contacts (“lead”) or the sale (“sale”). In contrast to the merchant (literally: retailer; here also program provider or operator), who offers goods or services, the affiliate merely acts as an interface between retailers and potential customers.”
Why Affiliate Links?
As you can see, a lot of time and effort has gone into building this site and creating the content. I deliberately share this information free of charge and try to finance the operation of this website from other sources – affiliate links are one of these sources. The income generated primarily helps to cover the running costs of this website. I have deliberately chosen this method of monetization so as not to impair the reading experience: in exchange, I do not use pop-ups or similar types of advertising.
Are there any disadvantages or costs for me as a reader?
No. As a reader, you will not experience any disadvantages by using affiliate links. The offer you are redirected to offers the same terms and conditions or price as if you had accessed the site directly. The commission is paid by the respective affiliate partner without affecting your purchase. This allows you to support me without incurring any additional costs.
My product reviews and purchase recommendations always reflect my personal, unbiased opinion – regardless of whether I include an affiliate link for a product or not.
Can affiliate links be avoided?
Yes, for example, by searching for the articles directly without using the links on the relevant platforms. But I would appreciate a little support!
